Hope Floating Above the Floodwaters: How Grassroots Mobilization Saved 500 Haryana Villages

Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj Revives Flood-Affected Villages of Haryana: Hope Returns, Fields Turn Green Again, and Wheat Sowing Resumes

When severe waterlogging submerged hundreds of acres of farmland across parts of Haryana, many farmers feared they would miss an entire agricultural season. Standing crops were destroyed, fields remained underwater for weeks, and in some villages, floodwater even reached residential areas.

However, large-scale drainage efforts carried out under the Annapurna Campaign of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj helped several affected villages remove stagnant water and resume cultivation. Residents of Bhaini Maharajpur, Dhani Premnagar, Khairampur, and Mujadpur say the intervention played a major role in bringing their farmland back into use.

Bhaini Maharajpur (Rohtak)

In Bhaini Maharajpur village of Rohtak district, around 250–300 acres of farmland remained submerged under 4–5 feet of water. Paddy and other Kharif crops had already been lost, and frustration among farmers reportedly led to disputes over drainage arrangements.

To tackle the situation, approximately 21,000 feet of 8-inch pipeline, two 20 HP motors, and pumping equipment were arranged through the Annapurna Campaign. Nearly three kilometers of pipeline were laid to channel water into nearby drains and canals.

After continuous pumping operations, water levels gradually receded and farmers were able to prepare their land for wheat sowing.

Dhani Premnagar (Hisar)

The situation was equally difficult in Dhani Premnagar village of Barwala Tehsil, where nearly 200 acres of farmland were affected by stagnant water. Villagers reported that floodwater had reached residential areas, while fodder shortages created additional problems for livestock owners.

Relief efforts included 4,500 feet of pipeline, a 10 HP motor, electrical cables, a starter unit, and related fittings. Drainage work continued for nearly two to three weeks.

Residents say the operation helped clear the accumulated water, allowing cultivation activities to resume and preventing further damage to agricultural land.

Khairampur (Hisar)

Khairampur village in Adampur Tehsil witnessed extensive crop losses after cotton, paddy, guar, and millet fields remained underwater for an extended period. In many places, water levels ranged between three and five feet.

A large drainage network consisting of 33,000 feet of pipeline and two 20 HP motors was deployed to remove the stagnant water. According to villagers, the work continued for several weeks before the fields gradually became usable again.

With water levels under control, farmers were able to begin wheat sowing and prepare for the next agricultural cycle.

Mujadpur (Hisar)

Among the worst affected areas was Mujadpur village in Hansi Tehsil, where nearly 300 acres of farmland were flooded. The waterlogging damaged crops and forced many families to temporarily leave their homes.

To assist with drainage, around 12,000 feet of pipeline, two 15 HP motors, starter units, electrical equipment, and pipe-fitting materials were provided. The operation helped remove standing water from both agricultural and residential areas.

Local residents reported that nearly 100 displaced families were eventually able to return home, while farming activities resumed across much of the affected land.

A Return to Normalcy

For many farmers, the biggest concern was losing the wheat sowing season after already suffering losses in Kharif crops. The drainage operations helped reclaim large stretches of farmland that had remained underwater for months.

Today, tractors can once again be seen working in fields that were previously submerged. Across these villages, agricultural activity has resumed, and many residents credit the efforts carried out under Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj's Annapurna Campaign for helping restore normal life and farming operations after a difficult period.
